Be my light, Be my guide

It was actually the song that i personally anted to be the first single. but the four of us always disagree, on everything from clothes to football.

Be my light.. is actually.. a taxi driver as Jesus, really. The aura of all encompassing wisdom, the quest for knowledge, that they so often offer but so rarely give. the line "Be my light, be my guide" is borrowed from the Bible. It's that yearning for belonging, for something that gives you a foothold in the world, someone to show you in which direction your loins should be travelling.

Sick, Sober and Sorry

It was called "Shandy" for almost a year. It rocks, and i do enjoy a good stamp! It's about the eternal comment  'I'm never going to drink again' which is almost always a lie, and the fact that i am associated with cigarettes. That's something i can never see myself not doing. At times, the're almost the one thing i have to look forward to.

"My life is not constantly unhappy, don't get me wrong, but unhappiness strikes irrespective of position. I've not been shoved up the ladder of contentment very quikly."

At times some of this does yearn to leave all this and become a primary teacher in Winchester, live in a semi, and have a couple of cats, and become grumpy octogenarian who gives my grandchildren presents that my children don't approve of."

Do you want to here it from me?

originally called "Burn, Windsor, Burn" and penned immediately after the fire, or the main percantage of the lyric anyway.
Obviously, it's an anti-Royal family song: and I know that people will think 'Ha! Who else did that?' I'd say. The Stone Roses!

Child's Body

Probably the most naive recording that we've made, but I think it has a little charm because of it. It almost sounds as If we're seven years old. which is quite sweet. I think, It's essentially about eating disorders and the fact that depression can be chemical. The main point of the song is about the body-obsessed 80's and 90's.

How much for love?

It's a song word that almost word for word describes something that happened to me at  King's Cross. It involved cars and It involved me being offered certain sums of money for certain cervies. Which you know, if i'd been feeling a little perkler, I might well have accepted!

This is not my crime

It's a song about rape. the words describe a rapist, just pre-trial and post-trial, from the victim's point of view.
The fact that a phrase like 'date-rape' exists upsets me. It's an attempt to lessen the crime and it's indicative of the fact that sexism is still life in this country.
But a lot of people do actually believe that the world is perfect, that some peope aren't racist, sexist and homophobic anymore. They live in this land where everyone wears feather boos and goes to nice clubs and spies Javis Cocker in the distance, and the world is rosy.

얘기 들어보고 가사 찾아봄

Her fifteen years

Lyrically, it's not as to-the-point as i'd like it to have been. Essentially the idea was to write a tirade against Thatcher, and to show the blindness of the Government's short-termist, privatise everything, open-market-to-the-point-of-no-compromise edict that they had at the time and still do have.

To see the lights

It has spirit and it has a health disregard for everything else we'd done at the time, which i approve of.
Again, though, lyrically, it's one i'm not completely happy with. I do have self doubt: I don't think i'd be human if i didn't. I sometimes wake up and honestly consider myself to be a complete fraud, the i come round I think that primarily I write and then I'll put on one of my songs and think, 'yes, that's good, that does deserve to be heard.'

I can't decide if she really loves me

It's a little frustrating when you know you have a good song but it's sounding limp.
Lyrically, it's about being beaten up by someone's dad. A true anecdote? Close enough, but i shall say no more.

I can't help myself

I can't help myself in particularly was one song that i think really helped solidfy the faith that a lot of people had in us. IT's a completely positive, uplifing song and it still makes my heart soar.
